14:30 - Visit to places associated with Ludlows as follows:
a) The church at Maiden Bradley, closely associated with Sir Edmund Ludlow, Sir Henry Ludlow and Edmund Ludlow, Regicide and others.
b) Baycliffe Farm, owned by the Ludlows in the 16th/17th centuries.
c) The church at Kingston Deverill. The hamlet was owned by a cousin of Edmund Ludlow also called Edmund Ludlow.
d) Ludlow Arms on the front of a house in Monkton Deverill.
e) The Manor at Hill Deverill, acquired by William Ludlow in 1438. A later house and 16th century Long Barn.
f) Also at Hill Deverill, an ancient entrance to an earlier building with Ludlow Arms above the doorway, also an opening in the wall used by lepers to receive gifts of food.
g) Hill Deverill church, now a private residence.
h) The church at Longbridge Deverill where the large altar tomb dedicated to John Ludlow in 1519 is located. The tomb was originally in Hill Deverill church but when the church was closed the tomb was removed to the Longbridge Deverill church (the Thynne family church).
An evening meal will also be held at the Lamb Hotel, Hindon, Wiltshire.
Those staying until Sunday may also wish to visit Stourhead House and Gardens (the scene of a battle with Edmund Ludlow) and also Old Wardour Castle, located not far from Shaftesbury and about 5 miles from Hindon. Edmund Ludlow defended the castle when the owners tried to retake it.
