I'm looking for information about Albert Hall, born about 1820 in New York (possibly Oneida County). Albert died of "congestive fever" (an old name for malaria) 4 Jan 1853 on board the Steamer Panama while en route to the California gold rush via the isthmus of Panama. His death notice in the Daily Alta California newspaper of 13 Jan 1853 states that he was from Grant County, Wisconsin.
Would passengers like this have been buried in a particular cemetery? Were deaths recorded during this period? Would anyone be willing to help me find Albert's death record? I'm especially interested in any record that might list Albert's parents and/or his wife's maiden name.
Thanks,
Nancy Rutman
