Merrill J. (Dewey) DuMont, Sr.: Born September 20, 1918 Sheboygan, WI, son of Leo Paul and Emma Berth DuMont; Dewey married his life long love and wife of 61 years Minerva"Mimi" DuMont May, 1943; also surviving him are his children, MerrillJr. "Chip" (Patricia); Brett (Patricia); Janet Haber (Kai); Linn (wife of his son Kris who preceded him in death); and grandchildren, Michelle DuMont, Jill Kreizenbeck (Stephen), Nikki Boyers (Matt), Gregory DuMont, Fitz Smerz, Andrew DuMont, Hans Smerz (Jocelyn), Elliot DuMont, Emma DuMont and great-granddaughter, Sofia Kalai Smerz. Dewey was a WWII veteran and flew many missions in B17s and P51s. After the war he made Tucson his home, but later was recalled into the Air Force. Captain DuMont left the service in the mid 1950s and was in the automobile business until his retirement in 1978. Dewey left us after 86 adventurous and zestful years of life on April 9, 2005. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Southern Arizona VA Hospital hospice for their wonderful and loving care. A celebration of life is being planned.
