My name is James Gaskins and I have been successful tracing my roots, but I have run into a road block. I found the name of my great great grand father who is Jack Gaskins born in South Carolina or perhaps Florida in 1862 or 1865, but that is where it stops. I can't find out who his father is. Last time I did this search I was able to go all the way back to the 1600s, but I realized that I must have made a mistake because they were all black people up until Jack and then they all became white. I'm pretty sure that my research should take me back to Africa or at least a listing of Mulatto or Indian. Any help you can give me in finding out who Jack Gaskins father is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a lovely day.
