Has anyone ordered his military records, or those for his widow, Elizabeth Guthrie's pension, or his brother, Thomas Jefferson Harp's records - they served in the same companies? James enlisted Nov. 21 1861 (age 29, which would make his DOB 1832) w/ Mo. 24 Reg't Vols. and was killed April 9, 1864, in action at Pleasant Hill, La. Youngest son (I believe) of William Harp and Charlotte Harrison. Born in Overton County Tennesse. He had 3 children, Madison Lafayette (called Fate by the family) Harp (my gggrandfather) Thomas Jefferson Harp and Mary Harp. The family ended up in Christian County, Mo. after his death, they may have been in Barry County before the war, and before that maybe Arkansas.
