this is a story in my fathers family -- my mother used to tell me that every time she went to visit my dad's father that he would talk about the hatfield's ALL the time -- my aunt has the family bible with the hatfield family tree in it -- the story is that a feud broke out (something about a pig accidentally trespassing on the mcoys land) -- mcCoys came and attacked the hatfields -- they set the Hatfields houses on fire -- in one of those houses lived a young hatfield couple with a baby -- parents must have perished -- someone grabbed the baby out of a window and hid the baby under a bush -- that baby was saved and a couple with last name houston adopted the hatfield baby and raised him as a houston to hide him from killer mcCoys -- that little boy grew up and had my father, Howard Houston -- everyone in the family knows this story to be true --
