I've recently had a bad Experience researching my tree which has left me wondering if I should'nt just jack it all in.
I've been Researching my tree since 2004 researching as many lines as a could. faithfully recording all the information I either found out myself or though others. I have always taken great care to make sure my work was a accurate as I can possibly make it. I have also helped, shared and given advice when asked for it and meet some lovely people through this hobby.
However all that changed on Sunday when I had the most upsetting comments & accusations put on my tree.
To put things into context about a couple of years ago I was given some information, but the person who gave it to me later retracted and asked me to remove I removed it from one of my tree's but forgot to check my other tree, it happens especially when you have very young children to keep an eye on.
Sunday the comments accused me of 'Besmirching a family name' this was done publicly on my tree not Private in short a very hummiliating experience. Of course I removed the content concerned as any decent person would and I've sent heartfelt appologies to the member concerned (not that they appeared to belive my side of things). I totally understand and sypathise why person concerned did but they should have done it privately not publicly an they should have aproached the matter a little bit more diplomatically.
I thought I'd have got over it by now but I havent, it has really knocked my self esteme, I'm now paraniod I'm going to get more abuse and I feel like giving up Genealogy.
Has anyone else had bad experiences like this and how did they deal with it?
