I wondered if someone could do a look up in Stern's book "Early Jewish Families: 600 Genealogies". I'm looking for a copy of the Myers genealogy chart and whatever other info might be in there on the family of Benjamin and Rachel Myers of Newport, Rhode Island. Benjamin was originally from Hungary and Rachel from Austria. They were in Newport by at least the 1750's. I am descended through their daughter Juda Myers (who married Alexander Montgomery and came to Canada as a Loyalist).
Benjamin died by about 1776. Rachel and her children went to New Brunswick as Loyalists from New York in 1783. Juda (Judith) remained in New Brunswick/Canada, but Rachel and her other children returned to the US. Rachel died in New York around 1801. Her sons included Benjamin, Abraham and Mordecai. Mordecai served in the War of 1812 and was mayor of Schnectady in 1851 and 1854.
The family could be listed under either Myer or Myers. I will re-imburse for copies and postage. Please e-mail me privately for more information (I have a partial copy of the genealogy chart I'm looking for).
Thank you in advance for the assistance.
Joanna
