Aaron Smith b. 1751 and his wife, Sarah Allen, from Virginia were documented as having a daughter Sarah who was born in 1789. There is contradictory information about who she was married to.
I found one source at wikitree that has her married to Alexander Holden in 1807 which is substantiated by a West Virginia marriage index. Her death is reported as in 1837 in VA or Indiana, or 1864 in WV. There is also confusion about Alexander Holden's wives which may include a Nancy Townsend in 1812 and later Sarah Cross.
My ancestor, John Jett, was also married to a Sarah Smith, m. 15 Jun 1803. The WV marriage index where they are listed do not report a name for her father. There are several indirect sources that claim her parents were Aaron and Sarah Allen Short but I have not found a direct source. The 1850 and 1860 census reports also has her several years older than having been born in 1789.
It appears there are two Sarah Smiths, but who are the parents of Sarah Smith Jett? This is a ball of string that many folks have got tangled into a mess on their trees and family histories. Please help me get this straightened out.
