Our purpose is to learn more about our ancestry through collaborating to share our research and family histories but also to provide a forum for sharing our ideas and creativity to find new avenues of research. We'd like to find more direct Bogle descendants carrying the surname that have had their yDNA profiled (by any company) or whom are willing to have that done. Females are also encouraged, although they'll only be able to get their Bogle family yDNA from a Bogle brother, cousin, uncle or father.
It seems to be generally accepted that families with the Bogle surname all came from Scotland at some point in time. Contemporary Bogles are found in North America, Ireland, Scotland and England. and other places.
Our membership so far consists of Bogles in North America, Ireland, Scotland, and England and their descendants. Some of the North American families are known to have come originated in Ireland and others are thought to be either from Scotland or Ireland.
The yDNA profiles that we have are remarkably similar. While our group is still too small to draw any conclusions we have some very interesting material to work with.
As other Bogles complete testing and join our group it will become possible to compare the profiles of sub sets within the group, such as families that stayed in Scotland or Ireland, or that came directly to North America from Scotland or from Ireland, helping us to learn more about our more distant Bogle ancestry.
Please join us in our research. here is the link to the site:

Please note: New members will be expected to write a brief introduction of themselves to the group which includes their connection to the Bogle surname, the reason they'd like to join the group, their most distant known Bogle ancestor, and the lines of research they are currently pursuing.
“Then straightway did espy, with my slantly-sloping eye,
A carved stone hard by, somewhat worn;
And I read in letters cold- Here lyes Launcelot ye bolde,
Off ye race off Bogile old Glasgow borne.”
