Thanks to the help of Jay Young, I now have the will of Alexander GRANT who rec'd the Patent at 15 W 1/2 2nd Cons. SSRR. The will was written in 1828 and proved in 1840. No wife was named as of 1828 and I know her only as Anne from the baptism of son James in 1799. Children named in the will are James, John, Nancy (marr.Malcolm McDONALD), Catherine (marr. Donald McDONELL), Alexander, Duncan, Hugh.
I have not been able to find documentation of this family group so far, but in the St. Andrew's graveyard there's a stone dedicated to grandparents Alexander GRANT (d.1791) and wife Marjory (d 1812) and parents Donald Alexander GRANT (d. 1840, age 85) and wife Nancy CAMERON (no death date). Sons of Donald A. and Nancy who erected the stone are: John, James, Duncan, Alexander and William. These match the will except for Hugh vs William.
Children of Alex GRANT and Anne CAMERON found in St. Andrew's baptisms are Hugh, b. 1805; John, b. 1808; Margaret, b. 1810. On the stone is also a dedication to sister, Margaret, so this fits as well.
So... Is anyone familiar with the family line of Donald Alexander GRANT and Nancy CAMERON? Could they be my elusive Alexander and Anne?
