Family history states 'Grandfather Messick' was in the Rev. War, however, I have not found anything to document this. He, James Messick, b abt. 1773 in Rockingham County, was living in Rockingham County, Virginia (Melrose, Virginia) in 1810. He was married to Mary "Polly" Toundsley 22 June 1795, Rockingham County, Va. Daughter, Nancy Messick married Christian Camery, 16 Apr 1821 Harrisonburg, Va. (my gggrandparents) Father of James, his brother John and sister Sarah, may have been children of Elihu Messick Jr. and wife, Elizabeth. I believe James, a shoemaker, and wife Polly were buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gambier, Knox,Ohio, where they were living at the time. I would appreciate any help you could give me on my family.
