George or Charles LaRose

Surnames: LaRose
George larose fathered two children in Toronto Ontario, a girl named Gail in 1943 and a boy sometime between 1944-1949 named Charles. Apparently Charles was sent up to Northern Canada and Gail (Gray) grew up mainly in Toronto. I don't have any info other that but am looking into this side of my family. At the time, the mother's (my grandmother) name was Alice Ellen Gray. If anyone has information on the Larose family, I would really appreciate it. Don't know where else to look....Thanks, Penny

Hi Sorry I can't be of help - but a few thoughts

Have you also posted to the Ontario board -General or Toronto. Perhaps there are LaROSE family that can help

Do you know if George LaROSE came from /lived in Toronto Ontario?
Search City Directory - Criss Cross directories - name to address - address to name [directories are often held at Public Libraries ]
The criss cross directory - is updated annually -shows all adult persons living at an address - occupation /may show place of work.

Was he in the Military service

Did the children carry the fathers surname or LaROSE or the surname of the mother GRAY?
How old was Charles when he was sent to Northern Canada
What was the reason Charles was sent to Northern Canada
Where - in Northern Canada.
Do you have contact with Charles

Hello and thanks for the suggestions. I will visit the Toronto Library the next time i'm in the city.

The first child Gail (Born 1943) was given her mother's married name of Gray but not sure about the boy Charles (born 1944 to 1949) , we were not even aware of him until very recently.

It is thought that George Larose was from northern Quebec and George's side of the family or the Children's Aid were involved in placing him up there because of the Indian in him......just a theory for the reasoning though, Alice (age 94) has just said "he went north."

We know that Gail was born in Toronto and we figure Charles was too, but we are pretty sure that George Larose was from northern Quebec.

We have never met Charles and he may not even be aware of us, seeing we just found out about him.
