Grants of Glengarry

I posted this as a reply on a previous Grant posting but I am also starting a new thread in hopes of a reply.

I am going to try again to tease apart the Grant-Rose connection....Here is what I know...Grants have you come across any of this in your research?

con 1 lot 19 was 'granted' to Kenneth Mackenzie a captain in KRRNY. His brother John Mackenzie also received land in Glengarry County.

Kenneth is the father of Sir Alexander Mackenzie. John Mackenzie was unmarried. Kenneth Mackenzie a widower immigrated to NY with his son Alexander and originally stayed with his brother in law McIvor. War broke out, he and his brother joined the KRRNY and headed north with Alexander and a sister to other family members. (I believe this family was in the Mohawk Valley) The war heated up and Alexander and his aunt went to Montreal where Alexander went on to fame in the fur trade business.

Kenneth and John died and Alexander petition for land as heir on their behalf and received land. Alexander died in Scotland where he had married and father 3 children. His estate in Canada was administered by Henri Mackenzie. The financial dealings get hazy here as there were problems with Alexander's estate - Henri might have been the equivalent of a bankrupt and he passed away in the 1830's..

con1 lot 19 had a Grant family and a Rose family. Alexander Rose was married to Jane Mackenzie who was born in Upper/Lower Canada. Descendants eventually purchased/received this lot in the 1850's from the Grants.

Here are some of my questions/thoughts....
Did Kenneth Mackenzie marry again? a Grant girl? and then fathered Jane Mackenzie (born @1775). He possibly met this Grant girl in the Mohawk Valley...

Alexander Rose met with a Mr. Ellice in Montreal to lodge a claim to the estate of Sir Alexander Mackenzie after Henri died....I don't believe he was successful but the land became official in the 1850's..

Do any Grants have any family stories about being related to Sir Alexander Mackenzie? Have you come across and connections to the Mackenzies or Roses? What do you think?
