Dorothy Hunter
Mrs. Dorothy Margaret Hunter, age 86, of 223 Graff Avenue, Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. She was born in St. Thomas, ON, daughter of the late Austin F. McCarthy and the former Sarah J. Flanigan. She had been employed for 20 years at the Stratford Beacon Herald until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Stratford and was a 50 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was predeceased by her husband Robert A. Hunter in 1979. Surviving are her children Sister Evanne Hunter I.B.V.M., Ted and wife Jeannette, Brantford and their children Jeff and Julie; Tom and wife Sandy, Ottawa and their children Kelly, Paula, Pamela and Deborah; Peter and wife Sherry, Cambridge and their children Michelle, Melanie and Michael; Danny, Stratford and his children Tamara, Danielle and Hanna; Terry and wife Carol, Cambridge and their family Christina and Leanne. Loving grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren. Also survived by extended family member Sister Mary Howard, I.B.V.M. and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother Joseph (1986) and by a granddaughter Tiana (1976). Family will receive friends at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, August 24, 2001 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Stratford on Saturday at 10 a.m. Father Thomas Donohue will be celebrant. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to SalvAide for Loretto Sisters La Bermuda Project or to the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
