John Brown was my grandfather but passed away when my mother was only six years old on 3 April 1955. Her memories of her father have all but faded so I am desperately looking for any relatives. John was the only child of Catherine (Taddy) Thomas b. 1897 and John Brown b. 1896. In the 1920 census it shows that the small family lived on 3rd Street in Southwest, near the old waterfront, in the District of Columbia. The following census year has Catherine listed as a widow and living on Union Street with her teenage son. This is also the place where my mother grew up. Union Street no longer exists but I'm hoping that a family member can shed some much needed light on the life of this man.
