Am searching for clues about a great-great uncle named Scott Van Valin. He was b. 18 January, 1878 in Nebraska and he worked "as a waiter in a very fancy hotel" in Chicago throughout his adult life. He married, late in life, to a woman who was a waitress in same hotel, named Frances Hoffman -- or so the story goes. Any ideas about which hotels would have been the "big fancy ones" after the turn of the century? Or clues on the Van Valin surname in Chicago?
