I had a grandfather named Stefan Vucko who imigrated to Chicago sometime around 1914.
He was the son of Štefan Vucko (senior), and Ana Peterka, with 6 siblings; Martin, Terezija, Katarina, Ivan, Rudi, and Anatonija. His place of birth was Gornja Bistrica and the date of his birth was 1885. He died in May of 1954.
He married Magda Koren in January, 1911, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Crenšovci. He left for America c. 1913 in search of work. I believe he may have worked in the mines and other miscellaneous jobs. He never returned to Slovenia, and lived out the remainder of his life in Chicago
In Slovenia, he left behind a young daughter, Maria. She was two years old at the time.
I am curious to know if he ever remarried and had another family while living in Chicago.
I would also like to know where in Chicago he is buried or how I can get that information.
