My step-daughter's paternal line is Goltry and I am just beginning to research that line, although I have been doing genealogy research for a "few" years. Using some family history information, a former co-worker of my daughter's aunt did some research at a Family History Center (which I have NOT proven as yet) and came up with the following families: Lyman Spencer Goltry (sp: Neola Mae Galbreath) > Charles Arthur Goltry (sp: Cora Marie Tillman) > Thomas Nathaniel Goltry (sp: Mary Ann Richards) > Nathaniel Goltry (sp: M. Elizabeth Fitzgerald).
I recall reading (somewhere) that in the latter 1800s, a number of Goltry children (from Iowa) were placed in an orphanage after their mother died and the father was unable to care for them. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
If this sounds like your line, or you are simply interested, I'd be happy to exchange information.
