Our lady in question is Mary Cearns, perhaps born about 1868 in or near New Orleans, Orleans parish, Louisiana. On one census it is reported that her father was born in England, and her mother in Ireland.

Mary Cearns married John Joseph Meyers, born about 1864, in the New Orleans area we believe. His parents were German immigrants to Louisiana.

Their children are John, William, Henry (Harry), Irma, Kate, Norma Elizabeth born from about 1885 thru 1910 - in the New Orleans area.

We don't have any real documentation - our information is not verified. In any case, they did seem to stay in the New Orleans area.

Can anyone identify any of them, especially the parents of Mary Cearns and husband John Meyers? When did the come to the USA, how, and from where? Thank you very much.

Possible connection - Kate CEARNS

on the 1880 census I find this family:
Kate CEARNS, head of household, born about 1843 in Ireland - either widowed or divorced;

her children: Henry, b. 1861/62; Annie, b. 1864/65; Mary b. 1866/67; Joseph b. 1870/71; Eliza b. 1873/74.

All the children were born in Louisiana, and their father was born in England, their mother born in Ireland.

I believe this the is family of our Mary Cearns, married John Joseph Meyers. I would appreciate any other information on this family. Who was the husband of Kate? Was she widowed.

They lived, in 1880, at 331 Phillip Street in New Orleans - does that ring a bell for anyone?

Thanks so much for your help.

related to Mary ? = Henry CEARNS Elizabeth BROOKS

in 1910 the New Orleans census shows a Henry CEARNS, age 49, who is widowed. Is this the brother to my Mary Cearns? The other occupant of the home was Elizabeth Brooks ... I can't figure out if there is a relationship to Henry, or if she just shares the house ... I can't decipher the information I was given.

I appreciate any feedback or help on this. Thank you!
