I am searching for any information on the family of Joseph Jefferson, who was a movie actor and played Rip Van Winkle on the Broadway stage in new York circa the late 1890/early 1900's and then in the early 1900's he purchased orange island / miller's island which became known as jefferson island in Iberia Parish, Louisiana around the early 1900's Joseph Jefferson built a turn of the century mansion on Jefferson island with a turn of the century swimming pool and as the saying goes Joseph Jefferson never slept in the mansion that he built because of all the alleged bad luck that happened to so many of the plantation owners, any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you
