Surnames: VANDORN, VANDOREN, VANDOORN
I have obtained the following infomation and am hopeful, it would qualify for my ancestor grandfather, Jacob/Jacobus Vandorn/Vandoren/VanDoorn to be put on the DAR Rolls? I understand, that public service quaifies along with actual service. If so, what documentation would I have to have?

Thanks for any hepful information anyone can provide.

INFO: In the book, THE VAN DOORN FAMILY IN HOLLAND AND AMERICA, written by A. Van Doren Honeyman published in 1909 in Plainfield, N.J. on pages 481-482 there is a write-up about, Peter Van Dorn. Peter was a soldier in the Revolutionary War enlisting June 26, 1776 as a private in the First Regiment, Monmouth County New Jersey Militia, and he served six monthly tours in 1776 and 1777. He also served in 1778. Peter drew a pension for his service after Mar. 4, 1832. In the next paragraph, there is an account by a Van Dorn descendant giving an interesting tradition of the family to the effect that, "when the war broke out, Jacob, Peter's father, was over 70 years old and possessed one of the largest grist mills in Monmouth Co., he contracted to furnish flour for the American army, and that Peter with his men and teams did the carting to Amboy, Trenton, and elsewhere to supply the army. The article goes on to say, that sometimes the flour was furnished without remuneration.
