Hello to the list from NJ. I'm trying to discover if my great grandmother's brother is buried in this cemetery. I have the death record for his widow, Sarah Chandler Jaquett who was b. April 25, 1842 and d. July 25, 1903 and same record says she was buried there. On findagrave I saw only her grandfather's name listed. (Amos Barnes) She was the dau. of Nathan Chandler and Sarah Barnes.
Her first husband was Charles Augustus Chandler, a cousin of some sort, hence the same last names. She m. my relative, George P. Jaquett(sometimes seen with another e on the end)October 27, 1881 in Boston, MASS, and Mass. listed as her most recent address, prior to her final illness, though she was born and died in Conway.
George P. Jaquett was b. March 15, 1836 in Salem county, NJ. He started out as an Assistant surgeon during the Civil War, rose through the ranks, so a life time Army doctor. He died October 06, 1883 in NY, possibly at Davids Island, where he had served for many years. That was also his home on the last census I found him.
I have a copy of his photo on my mantle in full uniform, and although I am unaware he produced any heirs, would really like to know where he is buried. I know for sure he is not here with his parents, Lott R. and Eliza Ann Peterson Jaquett, in Haines Neck Methodist Cemetery, Mannington twp, Salem county, NJ.
If anyone is able to access records or visit the cemetery for confirmation, or just tell me how I might find someone could help me in that area, I thank you in advance for your kindness.
Sincerely,
Valerie N. Caulfield
