Sperry's in Michigan

KSperry  (View posts) Posted: 27 May 2000 7:11PM GMT
I'm trying to find the father of William Sperry. He was married to Christina Hayner. William was born May 20, 1825 in East Bloomfield, Ontario County, New York and died May 10, 1901 in St. Johns, Michigan. He came to Michigan in 1843, where at Farmington, Oakland County, MI he was married. They had eight children: Annette b. 1852; John H. b. 9/17/1853 - d.4/2/1925 in Bay City, MI; Darius Eleazer b.8/14/1856, Clinton Co., MI - d.5/18/1925 in St. Johns, MI; Mary G. b. 1860 - d:5/28/1862; Willie G. b. 9/3/1865 - 4/3/1867; Addie Jane b.10/2/1866; and Eddie J. b.10/2/1866 - d.2/9/1937. Any info greatly appreciated

Kim, John H. Sperry was my great grandfather. William's father was Eleazer Sperry. He was a first land owner in Oakland Co. Mi 1827. See gov. land records. His first wife apparently died (by Wm's obit) he married an Elizabeth Shurtleff in MI.
Wm and Christina were married Nov 17 1847 in Farmington Mi by Rev. Henry A. Goss of Kensington MI. Do you have the Hayner family geneaology?

Thanks for the info. Re: Hayner I only know that Christina's parents were George Hayner and Mary Keller. By chance do you have any additional ancestry on Eleazer(birth/death/etc.) and his other children. This is my husband's line and my father-in-law(who is 88) is enjoying what I find. He is the grandson of Darius Eleazer son of Dean Sperry. I assume that we connect somewhere with the Sperry's in New Haven, CT, but am still searching for the connection. Greatly appreciate the info. My father-in-law remembers visiting your ggrandfather when he was a child. I do have the obit of William, but would love a copy of any pictures you may have of your ggpa and his family. Thanks for any assistance. You're welcome to email me directly at: kwsperry@aol.com

I know that my g.g.g.grandfather married Rhoda Sperry, daughter of Benjamin Sperry, of Connecticut, in the early 1800's. His name was James Vinson, Jr. They moved to West Virginia. By any chance would this be in the same line you are in? Please let me know if it is--I would be anxious to hear.
Thanks.

At this time, I don't have this ancestry traced back that far. If I come across any info that relates, will gladly forward it your way.

The Connection in New Haven

Amy  (View posts) Posted: 4 Mar 2001 10:36AM GMT
Hi Kim

My name is Amy. My mom's name is Patricia Sperry. Her parents are Russell Sperry and Alice Nugent Sperry. Years ago Alice and Russell had what is to believe 5 children that were all put up for adoption. When I started searching for info on Russell and Alice I was told they were dead and buried in Michigan, but I couldn't find any info on them. So assuming they are alive, I looked for a name and address and found out that a guy by the name of Russell E Sperry (which is the name of my bio grandfather)lives in New Haven Ct. He had a wifer name Alice who did a few years back. So that is part of your connection.

Hi Amy,
At this time I have no knowledge of Russell or Alice Sperry. Do you have dates of their birth & death, which would give me an idea of what generation they could be attached to. If I find any info, will gladly pass it on to you.

Thanks, Carol

I am searching for a Patricia or Trisha Sperry who was probably born in 1944 or 1945. She would have possible lived or stayed for a short time in Kansas. Maybe the Wichita or Liberal are. If anyone knows who this is please let me know.
