Bendall Family History Notes, Issue 2, 2003 has been lodged with the Society of Genealogists, London. It documents families with the surname Bendall and its variants Bendell, Bendle etc. It is a revised and considerably expanded version of the set of notes originally submitted in 2000 and includes information from over 3,000 GRO certificates, wills, parish register and census entries as well as information supplied by correspondents. The main part of about 1500 pages is in an indented narrative style with chapters for counties and, within each chapter, sections for the individual family groups. The main focus is on British records but it also includes information on those who emigrated. A comprehensive index is included. There are also appendices of source information such as parish register and census entries, will transcripts and probate index entries. Allied volumes contain GRO index entries for the surname and variants supplemented by notes from the contents of certificates and other information (Issue 4, 2002). All the volumes, which are in the Upper Library with shelf-mark FH/BEN, are ‘reference only’. They should be available from mid-February.
