I am seeking the parents of Thomas Arthur born 6 Feb 1825. From his Civil War papers and a Minnesota county history book, I found the exact birthdate and that he was born in New London, CT. However, I don't know if that's the town or the county. The history book also mentions he was on his own from the age of 12. I don't know if that means his parents died or he left home.

In the 1830 New London census, I found a James L. Arthur with two sons and three daughters. There is a son who could be the right age to be Thomas. Also, in 1820 I found a Thos L Arthur, which may be another good indication of a relative to my Thomas Arthur.

Can anyone help find the parent's names? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
