There is a story that has been passed down thru the years in my family that I cannot prove or disprove, but other researchers in Anderson Co. TN have told me they have also heard the story. Maybe YOU can help solve a mystery:
According to two of my elderly aunts:
Around 1900 in Anderson County, TN our "Uncle Tom Marlow" was an elderly man who married a much younger widow. He had "money". He and his wife had taken in a young orphan boy to raise. One day the wife made up two batches of cornbread and told the boy one batch was for him and the other was for Daddy. The batch Uncle Tom consumed had ground glass in it and he died of internal bleeding. The woman was not indicted because she and the boy also ate the cornbread, but my aunts say "everyone knew she was guilty". She moved to Jacksboro, TN. and died around 1945-50.
I have been unsuccessful in finding any info on this, but I have heard this story all my life. Any suggestions?
