Hi Frances,
I haven't heard from you in a long time. So do you have any info on Asher Place? All I have on him is that he was a Private in Co 37 Regiment (Noble's) New York Mil. He lived in Warren County Ohio and died there. His oldest son, Joseph Thomas Place, born 1824, was my great grandfather. Asher was married to Polly Thomas, but I do not know where she was born. I rather think that Asher was from New York State, but have never been able to trace him any farther than Ohio. Any info you might have would surely be welcome. Thank you Nancy E Brown, Reserve, NM

Interesting - I have another Asher Place in my line. It doesn't sound like a very common name. My Asher was a son of Stephen Place and according to cemetery records: Index to the East Bolton Cemetery near Austin, Quebec. In the cemetery is a stone which reads: Asher S. Place son of Stephen and Hannah Place died Jan. 1, 1861 aged 15 y, 1m.
