Surnames: OLIVER, WHITTINGTON, ROSSER
William C. Oliver md. Elsey Whittington 11 May 1828 in Pike Co. GA

I believe by 1850 this family was in Cherokee Co. AL Dist 23, page 125
OLIVER, William C. age 43 GA
..............Aisley.............41 GA (could this possibly be Alicey)
..............Wm................19 GA

..............Virgil...............10 GA
...............Charles..............8 GA
...............James...............6 GA
...............Sterling..............4 GA

Sarah Alice OLIVER was born 19 Nov 1850 after this census and was the 10th child in her family. Her parents were Chapman Oliver and Emma Whittington. She had a sister named Rebecca, one called Josie, and a brother James, they called Jimmy. She had sons James Virgil, and William C. & Archie

A researcher told me the 1840 Pike Co. GA census shows the family of William C. Oliver living nextdoor to Thaddius "Faddy" Whittington, Sr and Thaddius "Faddy" Whittington, Jr. (Note: William C. Oliver's second son was named Thaddius). I believe there was a document granting land to Thaddius "Faddy" Whittington, Sr (who lived to be 105) for service in the Rev. War.
His wife's name was Rebecca Rosser.

I am seeking more information on these two families, as I am sure this is the ancestors of Sarah Alice Oliver because of name similarities and locations. Anything possibly showing what the C. stood for in William C's name. Hopefully it was Chapman.
I have searched for this family for a long time, and feel this has to be the right family. Sarah Alice said in widow's pension papers she was born in GA, but on most all census records she is listed as being born in AL. I find this interesting since this Family would have been in AL prior to her birth, and a granddaughter said they use to visit relatives in AL often. Pension papers say Sarah Alice's family came to TX when she was 13 (Nov 1863-Nov 1864)

Death certificate of Sarah Alice Oliver gives her parents names as Chapman OLIVER and Emma WHITTINGTON both are listed as being born in GA.

I would appreciate any information on any of these families.. Respectfully~~Dee Colvin in N. E. Texas
