I have tried to order a marriage certificate: Jane Dobbs (June qtr 1840 Louth 14 711) as it appears in the index, but got a refund from GRO saying it couldn't be found. I get no result when searching the index for her spouse, Edward Scargall, so is there anything I can do? Jane was a widow and this marriage certificate is my only hope of finding out her maiden name.
