I have managed to obtain a photocopy of a book that was written in 1961 by arthur W. Christensen. I found this at the genealogy Library. It does have a lot of information in it.
The Preface of the book reads
Preface
In preparing this historical article, the orginal intention was to confine it to the first quarter century of the settlement. How-ever, inorder to record properly the life activities of the early settlers and to reveal the fruition of their efforts, it was necessary to cover the period from 1874 to 1910.
For the earlier years of this article, I am indebted to N.O. Nelson, Ole C. Leth, Niels Hansen, Lauritz Nielsen Marinus Nielsen and my father, Andrew W. Christensen. For the later years, I received much information from Paul Mortensen and Hans Pl Hansen.
Orginally the area of the settlement was confined to the Munson Creek watershed and as a consequence, the settlement was originally referred to as the Munson Creek settlement. When the settlers were petitioning for the post office, they held a meeting in the Andrew Larsen Sod home and the general agreement was that the Post Office be named Dannevirke, after a place in Denmark. The precint subsequently was named after the Post Office.
