"Death of an Old Citizen — Mr. William Alderson died on last Tuesday evening at his residence in Summerville(Mobile), after an illness of about six weeks. His disease was dropsy and general debility. He was born in Kendall, Westmoreland, England, in 1786, and at the time of his death was about 73 years of age. He came to Mobile in 1836 and formed a partnership with Mr. L.D. Spear & Co., which continued up to within about two months since. Mr. Alderson was one of our oldest and best citizens, a man upright and correct in his dealings, and respected by all. His remains were buried at four o'clock last evening from Christ's Church, of which he had been a faithful member for many years."
