I am trying to determine if Ellen C Sheldon's maiden name was Carson, and if so, who her parents were. Ellen was reportedly born in October 1822 in Canada. According to census records, both of her parents were born in Ireland. She married William P. Sheldon presumably in the 1840's and they had 5 children to the best of my knowledge: Mary E. Sheldon (1846-); Ella Hannah Sheldon (alt., Ella H., Hannah, Anna, Harrell) 1850-; Alice M. Sheldon (1852-1903) who would marry Edward B. French of England; William J. Sheldon (1858 -) and Carson James Sheldon (alt. James Carson, JC, James C. )(1860-). They lived in the Lockport, Niagara, New York area. Ellen appears to have removed to Rochester, NY after she was a widow.

Somewhere along the line I jotted a note that Ellen's maiden name might be Carson -- probably based on someone else's posted tree. Now I'm trying to find the link.
