Harry H Howell, 72 of Emmett, died Friday, April 20, 1990, in a Boise Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 23, at the Potter Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Father Robert Grant will officiate. Burial will follow in the Emmett Cemetery.
Mr Howell was born Aug 09, 1917, at Emmett, and attended Emmett schools. He married Billie Kesgard on Aug 20, 1935. He worked at the Emmett sawmill, then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he drove milk truck for the Carnation Milk Co. at Nampa for six years. He then drove school bus for the Emmett Independent School District for 20 years, and also managed the state liquor store in Emmett for 20 years, retiring in 1979. He then operated a bicycle sales and repair shop until the fall of 1989.
Harry's hobbies included traveling, square dancing, miniature electric trains, and hollowing his grandchildren's sport activities. Survivors include his wife of Emmett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Jim Stroud of Enterprise, Ore., and Terry and Bob Gillespie of Redmond, Wash.; a daughter, Cheryl Howell of Emmett; two sisters, Ruby Bishop of Emmett, and Lucille Hazeltine of Yuma, Arizona; five grandchildren, Monte Brookes in South Carolina, Brad Brooks in Florida, Randi Avery of Dayton, Nev., and Rob and Darcie Lee Gillespie of Redmond Wash., and two great-granchildren, Lauryn and Joshua Avery, both of Dayton Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents [Alleney and Candus [Coffey] Howell] five brothers and a sister.
Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute Hospice Program, Boise. Friends may call all day Monday, and Tuesday until noon at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
