I am trying to find the name of William Barbee's parents. He married America Harshbarger on Nov. 20, 1844. I have found him on the 1850 Illinois Census (spelled Barby) that he was born in Tennessee. That is as far as I have gotten. I suppose I could send off for the marriage certificate and maybe his parents would be on there? How else can I get his parents names? I think he would have been born about 1824 give and take a year. I have been told he is of French descent. I think his parents could have been Joseph Barbee and Rachel Compton who migrated up to Illinois but I don't have solid proff. Any info or help is appreciated. CJ E-mail is scotlass1959@yahoo.com
