Descendants of James Loftus and Catherine Garvey (Garvy)

1. James Loftus. He married Catherine (Garvey) Loftus.
Children of James Loftus and Catherine Garvey (Garvy), of Ireland, were as follows:

2. Margaret Loftus (James), born 7 May 1830 in County Clare, Ireland; died 7 Mar 1911 in OH. She married on 12 Sep 1852 in Cuba, NY Michael Scanlin, born 26 Jul 1831 in County Clare, Ireland; died 12 Apr 1912 in OH.

Children of Margaret Loftus and Michael Scanlin were as follows:

9 John Scanlin, born abt 1854.
10 Simon Scanlin.
11 Thomas Scanlin, born 9 Feb 1862 in OH; died 6 May 1932 in Portland, OR (Lived in Los Angeles).
12 Katherine Scanlin, born 25 Apr 1875 in Ohio; died 28 Aug 1947 in OH.
13 James Scanlin, born 16 Mar 1866 in OH; died 6 Apr 1907.
14 Mary Scanlin, born abt 1859; died Died in infancy.
15 Mary Agnes Scanlin. She married William Pickett.


7. Simon Loftus (James), born abt 1832 in Ireland. He married in 1857 Margaret (Boland) Loftus, daughter of Patrick Boland.

8. Patrick Scanlin (Margaret Loftus, James), born 3 Mar 1856 in OH; died 30 Apr 1929. He married on 16 Aug 1881 in Harrison, OH Sarah A. (Caniff/Canniff) Scanlin, born Nov 1861 in OH; died 17 Jun 1908, daughter of Patrick Canniff and Bridget (Doland/Dolan) Canniff, both born in Ireland.

So far my research shows that Michael Scanlin (Scanlon/Scanlan), came to the US from Co. Clare, Ireland in 1849. His Girlfriend/Fiance, Margaret Loftus, joined him in the US, from Co. Clare, Ireland by 1851. Michael and Margaret married in Cuba, NY, in 1852. They settled, started, and raised their family, in Steubenville, Jefferson Co., Ohio.
