I saw a posts made regarding descendents of John Nance Garner and thought I would follow up. My family who came to Texas in about 1870 from Tennessee always said we were cousins with John Nance Garner. My Garner line goes back to Pittsylvania County Va where my fifth great grandmother Margaret “Peggy” Garner married James Curry II and then they moved to Maury Co Tn circa 1807. Their daughter Rebecca Curry married my 4th great grandfather William L. Liles and that’s where the Liles name comes in. As best I can tell, John Nance Garners line with Obediah Garner also was from Pittsylvania County VA and then they go to Rutherford County Tn. and later to Red River Co Tx. (where another of my lines also lived). Somewhere along the way a son of Martha “Patsy” Garner marries one of my 3rd great grandfather, John J Liles’ brothers in Tn. I do not know exactly how Patsy fits in but that line of Garners came with the Liles to Texas.
So any comments of help would be appreciated.
