Helen M. Decker, 85, of Ashe Drive passed away peacefully Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving children.

Born February 13, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Mattie (Gunter) Hiles.

Helen worked for several years as a long distance telephone operator.

She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict.
While stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico she met Robert A. Decker; the couple married in 1955 and spent 54 years together before his passing in 2010.

Helen will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Mark Hiles.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Susan D. Thomas, her husband, Bill and their son, Henry of Binghamton, NY; a son, David Decker, his wife, Wendy and their son Daniel of Warrensburg; grandsons, Jason Douglas, his wife, Marin and their daughter, Juliana, and Christopher Decker; a special granddaughter, Jasmine Gabbard and her sons Chase and Carter.
She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Helen’s request there are no calling hours scheduled.

A memorial celebration will be conducted privately and take place at the convenience of the family.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Helen’s memory to the Warrensburg American Legion Post 446.
