Researching the family of George CALDWELL. He was originally from Ireland, born about 1818. Not sure when he came to Canada or if he was with other family when he came. George married Julia Ann HALL. She was born about 1823, probably in New Jersey, though some records mention New York. Also unsure when her family arrived from the states. George and Julia married in Galt in 1845. In 1861, the "Colwell" family were in Oneida twp. in Haldimand county. Unsure where the family was during the 1871 census. By 1881, the Caldwells were in Beverly twp. in Wentworth county.
Saw the Ontario cemetery index listing George and Julia "Calwell" buried in the Troy Cemetery in Beverly twp. Does anybody have copies of monument inscriptions or know when they may have died?
Their children included Phebe Ann WATTS (b. 1845), Thomas CALDWELL (b. 1847), Joseph CALDWELL (b. 1848), Emily CALDWELL (b. 1850), Elizabeth REAMAN? (b. 1852), William G. CALDWELL (b. 1854), Charles J. CALDWELL (b. 1859), Albert CALDWELL (b. 1863), & Julia Ann MULHOLLAND (b. 1865). Daughters Phebe and Julia relocated to Ashtabula county in northeast Ohio, and I believe some of the sons may have also.
Look forward to hearing from anybody researching these same families. Thanks in advance for any help or clues.
