Hi Barbara,
These Poage (Poague's) & Preston were my 4th great grand Parents. I descend through their son William who married Ann Kennedy Wilson. Who do you descend from and where are you in your search? I have lots on the Poague's, Poage lines. I have Williams line well documented. Tell me what you are looking for and through which line. Betty Jean Poague Smith

I am descended from Robert & Elizabeth Preston Poague (Poage). Have lots of data. Robert's original home of about 1740 is still in use today. As well as the church they gave land for. Been there, have pictures. Willing to share. It appears that your husband is descended through Margaret Poage, right? I come through her brother William, killed by Indians, 1778, in KY.

I am descended from Samuel Leonidas Poag and Hannah Harriet McBride. Samuel was born 1770/1771 in Antrim, Ireland. Hannah was born in South Carolina. They lived in York Co., SC until they moved to Wayne Co., TN. The children of Samuel and Hannah were Hannah, Margaret, Lovina, William B., Samuel, Jr., Rachael, Jane, John, Robert, and W.W. I'm hoping that Samuel and your Robert are related since they are from the same place. If you have any info on the siblings of Samuel or Robert or when they might have immigrated please let me know. I'll be glad to swap info. My email address is SSbr2Day@aol.com

Do you have any idea who the family of Mary Poage who m. James Cobb in MD. I don't know where they went to or where they lived. She was his second wife. They were reported to have had 3 children but only Margaret b. ca 1742 was recorded. I believe that she was born in MD also. The sons of James' first marriage appear to have gone to Craven Co, SC but I can't find any info on the other two children or whether they even lived. Any help appreciated!

Re: Poague Family History
Hi Betty, I too am related to Robert and Elizabeth through my maternal grandmother Myrtle Naomi (Pogue) Johnson. The name changed before it got to her due to some lawyers spelling the name the way it sounds, or so I am told. I would greatly appreciate any information about the Poague/Poage/Pogue family I can get. My line goes through Robert and Elizabeth's son John, to Grandson Robert, then John Hopkins Pogue, Archibold Hopkins, Charles Alexander, and finally to Myrtle. If I could get the information in GEDCOM form that would be most appreciated. Thanks, Frank Grether gretherf@pacbell.net

William Poage & Anne Kennedy / Poage / Wilson / Adair
Anne (Kennedy / Adair / Wilson ? ) m. c. April 17 1762 to William Preston Poage (1735-1778).
Anne died Nov 11 1815 in Augusta Co. VA. They may have had son Robert Poage b. Oct 6 1765, Rockbridge, VA.
William Poage may have been son of General Robert Poage bc1700 who m. March 1722 in co. Antrim, Ireland to Elizabeth Preston.
Anne ( Kennedy / Poage / Wilson / Adair ?) may have been daughter of Joseph Kennedy ( Joseph bc1717 Staunton, VA) ?
Would you know if Anne married Mr. Adair after the death of William Poage who was killed by Indians 1778 ? Thankyou.
It is on a Wilson query that an Anne Adair mc1734 John Wilson, probably in Chester, PA but this appears to be an earlier generation as this would have made Anne about 45yrs when Robert was b. in 1765.
