In following my family line I have found Nancy Norris Harkness (b.Feb. 1814, d.Oct. 1872, m. Feb. 1832) married to John Pratt (b. Aug. 1812, d. June 1849). They were from Abbeville, SC (near me, but I haven't looked at the courthouse or in graveyards yet). I have information I am trying to tie together about her parents.
One account has John Harkness and Nancy Norris (Dau. of John Norris and Mary Browne) as her parents and traces the Norris line back to the 1300's. In this account John and Nancy have 7 children, including Nancy Norris Harkness and Eliza Jane Harkness(b. ~1816), but no info for Eliza Jane.
The other account has Nancy Norris Harkness as the daughter of John Harkness (wife's name unknown). John was son of Robert Harkness and Nancy Norris (youngest dau. of Robert Norris). In this account John's sister, Jane, married James Pettigrew (son of John Pettigrew, b.1736, Sarah Matthews).
Any help with the Norris, Harkness, or Pettigrew lines would be appreciated.
