I am searching for anyone who has a connection to the family of ROBERT ALLEN, born about 1826 in KY who married SARAH "SALLIE" (possibly GRISSOM), born about 1835 in KY. This family was listed in the 1870 U.S. Census of Daviess Co., KY, page 148. Robert is listed as being 44 yrs. old and Sallie as 34 yrs. old. Also listed were two daughters, SUSAN (age 10) and ANNIE W. (age 5). Living in the same household were JOHN ALLEN (age 25), HERSCHEL GRISSOM (age 33) and his wife ARAMINTA GRISSOM, nee. ALLEN (age 33) and their child WILLIAM A. GRISSOM (age 8 months).

Also listed in Daviess Co. in the 1870 Census, but not in the above household, is ALFRED GRISSOM (age 63) with HESTER A. GRISSOM (age 47), ALFRED GRISSOM JR. (age 25), ELIZA DAVIS (age 22), MAGGIE DAVIS (age 19) and FRANK ALLEN (age 1 month).

Other Grissom's listed in earlier census reports are JOHN GRISSOM ( in 1850 age 21, tailor) and DANIEL GRISSOM (in 1850 age 19, lawyer). John, Daniel, Sarah, Herschel and Alfred Jr. are all children of Alfred Grissom. There may also be another daughter, MARY GRISSOM (1850 age 3).

My MORRISON, GRISSOM and ALLEN families appear to have lived in Owensboro, Daviess Co., KY from the 1830's until at least 1880.

Does anyone recognize these Allen or Grissom families? I certainly hope so..
