I am tracing the family of Thomas MacDonald and
Sally (Neil), who had children baptized in "Raheen",Borris parish as indicated on parish records now available on rootsireland.ie. I find Thomas on both Griffith's and Tithe Appointment books, in Raheenkyle, with land in Raheendarragh. It seems as though the townland names, Raheenkyle and Raheendarrgh were shortened to "Raheen" on the records. Would anybody have anyother examples or evidence of the use of a shortened version of these townland names?
Thanks!
