looking for information on Mary Payne, daughter of Joseph Payne (1754-1832) and Susannah Brown (1775-1874).

Mary Payne was born about 1795 in Chester County, Pa. Her family moved to Allegheny County (this is covered in a biography in the History of Allegheny County). In the biography they mention that she had married Peter Shepler.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here... too many Peter’s married to too many different Mary’s.

After digging through a lot of stuff... I have found a U.S.. Federal Census Mortality Schedule, 1850-1885 which lists Peter Shepler was a farmer in Jefferson, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania... born about 1790 ... died in the census year 1850. He was injured in an November in an accident, died of his injuries 4 days later.


A Peter Shepler with the almost the same exact dates b. 1789 and died 11-29-1849 is listed on the Pennsylvania, Veterans Burial Cards, 1777-1999 Record for Peter Shepler... according to the card actually says Mifflin U. P. Cemetery in Mifflin Township, Pa.

Does anyone have any information on this Peter Shelpler?
