Sensenig Family Reunion to be held August 10, 2013

A Sensenig reunion and genealogy research day is planned for August 10 at the Hahnstown Mennonite School, 255 Hahnstown Road, Ephrata, PA

Attendees will be able to view their Sensenig genealogy and update their family information starting at 10 AM. Please bring copies of any updated information you may have. Bring a hot and cold dish and place settings, if staying for the meal at noon. A donation will be accepted to cover office supplies and the cost to use the facilities.

Sensenig (Sensenich, Senseny, Senseney, Sensiney) is a Swiss name found especially (but not limited to) among the Mennonites of Lancaster County, PA

In 1990, the work began to gather the genealogy of the immigrant Jacob Sensenig (married to Marie Krey) family, who immigrated from Switzerland around 1717. There are currently approximately 10,500 pages, with a group of 18 people working to complete this book. Our guest speaker, Carl Sensenig, will be sharing stories followed by a progress report. There will be a committee meeting following the reunion for anyone who is interested in attending. Volunteers are needed to help update and collect genealogy.

One may think they are not a Sensenig descendant but may be surprised. Since this is an exhaustive work, many families don’t realize they are included. Anyone who thinks they may be a Sensenig descendent, or wants to find out, should come to the reunion. For more information, call Leonard Sensenig at 717-463-3024.

Maps will be available to visit the Sensenig Farm Cemetery located off of White Oak Road on Jacob’s homestead.
