The History of Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland Counties New Jersey by Cushing and Sheppard, pub. 1883 with a separate index pub. 1975 by Donald Sinclair, has many entries for the various families mentioned in this thread. Be willing to do sound alikes as there were not any hard and fast rules for spelling. For example, you need to check Crouse or Crose as well as Kraus,etc.

These volumes literally full of names from all sorts of civic and military lists,so a useful finding aid for the region. And if you can pin your people to a map, start looking for churches or cemeteries in the immediate vicinity. The historical societies in the several counties might have copies of those records now.
