I am hoping someone might be familiar with my Fuller family, or part of it: John & Frances Fuller. John was supposedly born in 1812 in Vermont and Frances (maiden name unknown) born in 1814 in New York. This is where things get strange. My ancestor, George Fuller’s death certificate stated he was born in Wisconsin in 1851. However, when you backed into his birthdate by days, months and years from the death cert, it actually came out to be 1848. So I searched the 1850 Census and found one that made sense, George Fuller listed as son of John & Frances Fuller in Aztalan, Jefferson Co., WI. The children listed in the 1850 Census were:
Charles D (1840-1901)
Daniel (B. 1841)
Lucinda (B. 1843)
George Henry (1848-1926)
Abby (B. 1855)
There is also a Daniel Fuller listed along with John Fuller in the 1840 Census, making me wonder if they might have been brothers, cousins, related, etc.
My ancestor, George and his wife, Helen Pickett, had the following children, at least that I’m aware of:
Benjamin H (1874-1940)
Jennie Alice (1877-1955)
Flora B (1879-Before 1920)
Edna Mae (1882-1958)
John Edward (1886-1969)
Hazel (1887-Before 1920)
Marion Lee (1888-1957)
Lillian Mary (1893-1962)
One thing that I can't figure out is my great-great grandparents; George Fuller & Helen Pickett were married in Clark County, WI in 1873. Then they moved to Sparta, Monroe Co. around 1886, where they lived until at least 1893 (when Lillian was born there) and then they move back to Clark County where they die. Why? Is this where John Fuller “disappeared”? I have found reference to a John Fuller who died in Monroe County on June 20, 1900. Is this why the family was there? Frances disappeared after 1850, although I could have missed her. It doesn’t help that George moved away and travelled around Wisconsin as a young man until he was married.
I’ve been stuck here for 20 years. Can anyone please help me?
