I am looking for Maurice Haley in the 1851 census. He is mentioned in the Earnestown diary as the Orphan boy Morris Haley marrying Miss Johanna Connors. They were married 16 Jan 1852 Railton Catholic Church Ernestown,L&A.
1861 census-Ernestown
1871 census- Camden (1870 Camden township voters list conc 1 lot 36)
1881 census-Portland
1891 census-
1896- someone graciously gave me a copy of an article from the Napanee Beaver that said Morris Haley Sr of Yarker, was kicked by one of his horses and died shortly after.
So He came from Ireland born in 1829 His father Patrick Haley and mother Bridget Gleeson were dead by his marriage Jan 1852. Possibly from County Sligo or Galway. Dont know year of coming over.
Why would he be refered to as an Orphan at 19-20yrs old? We heard the family came through St John's- unfortunately it could be New Foundland or New Brunswick?
He and his wife Johanna Connors Haley are buried in St Mary's Catholic cemetery in Odessa. His headstone is wrong.
The biggest problem is there is a man Maurice Haley who was a blacksmith who lived in Loughbourogh. They were basically the same age. Both had many children.
My Maurice Haley/Healy's kids were Patrick, John, Michael, William, Mary, Margaret,Catherine, Maurice jr, Thomas.
Thank you if anyone can help-
Karen
