Hi,
Did Cherokee's name their children the same as them perhaps if they married a white person. I ask this because the dates are too early to be the same person. My husbands gg Grandmother's name was Elizabeth Duncan from NC. She married James Laster. We have always been told she was part Cherokee. Emmett Starr in his book, says that Elizabeth Duncan of the Deer Clan 1/2 Cherokee who's father was Young Chas. Gordon Duncan(b.Abt.1750) and mother was Dorcus Lightfoot(d.1836) who's father was John Lightfoot. It says that Mr. Gordon was Scottsman and Elizabeth's birth has been established as1793-1769 and d.1794-1855. These dates would fit if Elizabeth Duncan was the mother or Grandmother to my Elizabeth Duncan. If anyone knows anything about these people I would love to hear from you.
Thank you Weny Adams
