I am researching Dewitt and allied surnames in Marengo Co.
They first show in Clarke Co. in 1809 and spread to Wilcox, Marengo, Coosa, and other locations.
My branch left Clarke in 1883 and migrated to Arkansas.
I am trying to finish up the links to those who remained in AL.

They lived around Hampden, Marengo Co.
They married Ross, Lee, Morgan, Barkley, Etherdige, Waldon to name a few.
